Menswood provides non-medical personal care assistance to adults aged 18 and over who need help with bathing, hygiene and grooming — whether because of age, disability, injury, limited mobility, illness, recovery, or anything else that makes managing this care alone difficult, uncomfortable or unsafe. We do not ask why, and we do not want to know. You know your own situation.
Our service is built around men's personal care, and it is open to any adult who needs it. The name says who we set out to serve; it is not a rule about who we will help. If you need this care, you are welcome here.
You can tell us the gender of professional you would prefer when you book. This is intimate work, and that choice is yours to make. We honour what you ask for whenever we can, we cannot guarantee it, and we always tell you who is coming before your visit.
Menswood is an adults-only service. We do not provide any service to anyone under 18, in any circumstance, with or without a parent or guardian present. This is not negotiable and there is no exception for any type of visit.
After an operation, washing properly can be genuinely difficult — a shoulder that will not lift, a wound that cannot get wet, or simply not having the energy. We help you get clean without risking the recovery, and without having to ask a family member.
Reaching your back, your feet, or below the waist stops being straightforward. A shower stops being safe. We bring a shower chair and non-slip matting if you need them, and handle the parts you cannot reach.
Needing help with a bath does not mean giving up your independence or moving anywhere. A scheduled visit means you stay in your own home, properly looked after, on your terms.
Consistent, unhurried personal care from someone who does this every day, in your own bathroom, on a schedule that suits you.
If you are bathing a parent, spouse or sibling yourself, it is heavy work and it changes the relationship. Handing that task to someone else for an hour gives you the time back — and often makes it easier for them too.
The reason does not have to be medical, and it does not have to have a name. Reach, grip, balance, stamina, build, a shower that is not safe to stand in for long — any of it is enough.
